Sick. Wrong. Aerosmith. What could be better? The title makes it.

I think what's *most* interesting about this (very funny and totally awesome) vignette is that it got BoingBoinged a couple days ago. I'm really starting to see opportunities to expand the audience for LEGO creations on places like Flickr, BoingBoing, and Slashdot.

I'm not saying the AFOL community is insular, but there *are* people who'd never check Brickshelf or visit one of our blogs who would appreciate the stuff we do. Just something I've been thinking about lately...

...and the very next day dunechaser himself gets linked to on Boing Boing. Cool.

Cool. Congrats, Duney.

Good point about using other sites to spread the hobby. I see that the Brokeback Mountain LEGO site has gotten spread around the blogosphere. Of course the Brick Testament has had wide appeal outside of AFOL circles. How can we further highlight our hobby to the world?

Thanks for the link, roo! ;-)

Bruce, I think the key to wider exposure is something you said on C-C a while ago -- doing something that appeals to specific groups of readers/viewers outside the AFOL community. Or more generally, something that elicits responses like, "I didn't know you could do that with Legos [sic]!" (a frequent reaction from my coworkers yesterday).

I'm always really surprised at how little people seem to know about Lego, you just kind of assume that people know that this brick exists etc.

I mention this because after I got boingboinged, all that anyone seems to ask me is if I made the face on Mr Cheney.

DC: You're right though, people love Lego, and it's worth spreading the word. Flickr seems to me to be the ideal place to do it...

And thanks for the link Bruce!
