Roswell
Today's Google doodle notes that on this date in 1947, aliens are supposed to have crash landed at Roswell. Here is Kylan's vig of that day.

Pickett's Charge
150 years ago today, Pickett's charge was turned back by Union forces, effectively ending the Battle of Gettysburg and, along with the surrender of Vicksburg in the west 150 years ago tomorrow, turning the tide of the war to eventual Union victory. Yes, this rendition of Pickett's Charge by Eric Schmidt is way too big to be called a vignette, and there are other more vig-like MOCs of the Civil War and of Gettysburg specifically, but I thought it was appropriate to feature this here today. If you are interested in this era of history, there's going to be a big collaborative display at BrickFair next month, celebrating the sesquicentennial of Gettysburg.

Lost your bottle?
Apparently this Lost your bottle? case by James Pegrum is an important legal precedent in British law.

That was then ...
Inspired by , JetFRI has done a series of Then and Now dueling vignettes, including the pop star, then and now. I particularly like the scenery backdrop for the opera singer.

MOCathalon
It's time for MOCathalon, and a lot of the entries are vigs or bignettes. Interestingly, Lincoln's assassination has already shown up in two different categories. In the Ars Historica category (calling for a historical scene) Alex Mack made Lincoln's Assasination, and in the Ides of March category (calling for a conspiracy), Christopher Baldacci made Half Mast, a multi-tiered bignette showing the assassinations of US Presidents Kennedy, McKinley and Lincoln.
