Welcome to VignetteBricks

Hi there!

Welcome to my new blog. LEGO builders may know me from my site, Brick Tales, or from my participation in various LEGO forums. This site, however, will not be a medium for me to display my own creations (known to LEGO fans as MOCs), but rather to highlight my new favorite style of building, vignettes (see below), by a variety of AFOLs, TFOLs, and KFOLs (Adult Fans Of LEGO, Teen Fans Of LEGO, and Kid Fans OF LEGO).

What is a vignette? In the context of LEGO building, this is a scene built on a small (usually 6x6 or 8x8) platform. Vignettes are meant to capture a small slice of life. It's easier to show than to describe, so here are two that I built for last Sunday's Academy Awards.

Get the idea? Anyway, in the course of this blog I'll basically highlight new creations by a variety of builders when I find them. There is also a huge backlog of creations that I'll highlight to fill in slow days, and I'll also throw in my own when I make them. I'll occasionally also add a short essay relating to the hobby, or important news in the LEGOverse.

It is my hope that this blog will be fun for both AFOLs and non-AFOLs. This is not a blog about politics, or sales, or anything like that. It's simply a place to have fun with a hobby. So, stop in from time to time and join the fun.
