Pieces of eight

Forbidden Cove is celebrating their second anniversary by holding a Pieces of Eight Contest. This vignette contest has a really short deadline, so you only have a few days to build something. The first entries are Nanuck's What I heard in the Apple Barrel, Shmails' Newbie and Porschecm2's Pirate Aura.

I started a topic on LEGO blogging over on Classic-Castle. I'd like to invite anyone, particularly if you have your own blog, to add your thoughts. Dr. Hasn't a Clue

Not sure how I missed blogging this, as I've certainly seen the MOCs. Dr. Sinister has been posting a series called Doctor Hasn't a Clue based on a somewhat stupid time lord who's always getting himself into crazy predicaments and landing his Tardis in the wrong places. You really have to go to Dr. Sinister's page to read his extensive descriptions of each scene.

Following along with the idea of MOCing song lyrics, Gabbey Road J-Walker has a series of Pink Floyd vigs including Bring the Boys Back Home, Us and Them, and Any Colour You Like.

iMake the vigs that make the whole world sing

Over on Brick Horizon they are running the iMake the Lyrics contest. Build a vig illustrating the lyrics to your favorite song. For instance, 74louloute shows us Midnight Oil's Beds are Burning.

Eurobricks contest

Eurobricks is currently running a fun Minifig Series 1 Contest. All the entries are in, and voting is underway. The concept is that you build a vig to feature one of the figs from the Collectible Minifigures, but the figure is left out. Part of the challenge is that it has to be a town-themed vig, which means if you are featuring a fig like the Forestman, the Ninja or the Caveman you need to come up with some clever concept. Here are entries from 74louloute and anti charger.




Rick3691 has photos of his vig both with and without the skater, but I really like the posing of the fig in the 'with' picture. He also has a great spaceman vig that he decided not to enter in favor of the skater. I really like the microscale backdrop he made for that one.
