And the bantha played on
A couple of quick vigs. "Castle" has a great bantha in C3PO (presumably a golden C3PO raffle entry).

Happy birthday!
August 16 will be the first anniversary of the founding of Forum 0937, a Portuguese LEGO forum (though there is also an international section for English readers). To celebrate, they are having a First Anniversary Contest. In one entry, EvilDead has Joe Vig lighting the anniversary candle, though he's got a surprise in store for him.

In another, Marisa present the Anniversary Party

Chronicles of Vigdain
Maniac000 presents a scene from Prydain. As he describes it, on the border of Annuvin, one of Arawn's deathless warriors takes a peek at the world beyond the wasteland he calls home.

Thor
I couldn't link the images from the recent Lowlug Mini Moc Madness contest, which Mahjqa won with "Singing in the Rain", but Martin Jaspers just posted his 2nd place entry Germanic storm on Brickshelf. Be sure to check out all of the great entries.

Oh happy day!
Going off-topic briefly to celebrate a special occasion. Seventy-five years ago, in 1932, a Danish carpenter named Ole Kirk Christiansen started selling wooden toys. Two years later, one of his employees came up with the name "LEGO," as a contraction of the Danish phrase "Leg godt," meaning "Play well." For another twelve years it was still all wooden toys, until they first started experimenting with plastic molding. The interlocking LEGO brick was introduced in 1958, and the poseable minifig came in 1978. VignetteBricks came in 2005. ;) Read more history here.

Links in the sidebar
I'm trying to keep a fairly comprehensive list of links on the right-hand sidebar. --> I've added a new category, "image hosting", for all of the various image hosting options that have come up recently (largely spurred by the recent Brickshelf crisis), and also added missing resource sites, communities, and blogs. It would be impossible to add every LUG site or smaller forum (no offense to those with smaller forums), so I had to make some judgments, but please let me know if there's anything major I missed.
You oughta be in pictures
Turkguy19 has a series of photographer vigs, featuring forensic, wildlife, and studio photographers.

V is for voting
It's time to vote in the Klocki z Czuba sports contest. Pick your favorites in two categories, one for scenes from a real sport and one for scenes from invented sports. After clicking your selection in each category, be sure to push the button marked "Glosuj" at the bottom.

Man of the vig
Alex Eylar has a great vig based on a Poe story, The Man of the Crowd. I enjoy Poe, but had not read this story before today, but the text is here and it's a pretty fast read.

Making only the two main characters in yellow and the rest in gray tones is a great idea. To really get the effect of this vig, though, you have to look at it from the fig's POV.

The Klocki z Czuba contest is over, but Crises can't stop making sports vigs. Here is synchronized swimming.
